Control Systems Generic IR
Kaleidescape provides IR commands for almost all universal remotes. These commands provide control for a Kaleidescape movie zone connected to a display device. The amount of control depends on the type and capabilities of the remote.
Remotes generally fall into three broad categories: PC Programmable, Learning, and Pre-programmed.
PC Programmable
These remotes are generally more sophisticated models, with software provided by the manufacturer to program the remote through a computer. Several of these programs allow IR codes in hex format to be imported, usually by copying and pasting the codes into a text box. The following link contains all the IR codes available from Kaleidescape in hex format.

Occasionally, a remote configuration program can import IR codes from the Pronto CCF file format. The following file contains all the IR codes available from Kaleidescape in this format.

Learning
The Kaleidescape code set is an extension of the Toshiba code set. Programming the remote to control a Toshiba DVD player allows the remote to control a Kaleidescape movie zone. This results in a good general-purpose remote, but one that is unable to use Kaleidescape-specific commands. If a device (such as a PC programmable remote) can generate Kaleidescape commands, then that device can act as a source remote for learning Kaleidescape-specific commands.
Pre-programmed
Pre-programmed remotes should be configured to control a Toshiba DVD player.
